Mission trip

I have just finished reading the entries for the mission trip. What a blessing, I am glad God has worked in your life and spoken to you. I would have to say that God is still working in my life. The conversation in my van on the way home has me thinking about things. I can't wait for my next mission trip in January to India. Any college student or adult that would want to go you would be more than welcome to come. God will bless you.

Day... Not Really Sure Now, Too Sleepy: The Last Day

We have finished our last day at our ministry sites. It has been an exciting and tiring week here in Nashville. By serving others and meeting their needs we have been working on our own spiritual needs. Wednesday, during worship, Josh, the camp pastor, talked about people from the Bible who had a close relationship with God. One commonality among these Biblical heros was their compassion for "the least of these" (the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the needy, the sick, and those in prison). This week we were given an opportunity to do this without any distraction. It is our prayer that it glorifies God.

Learn more...
Know more...
Obey more...
Love more...
God gives us more joy...
MORE!

Prayer Needs:

-Please pray for safe travel as we come back to Sullivan.
-Pray for the Sunday Night Youth Presentation, that God may be glorified.
-Pray that the youth will continue to thirst for more after we get back and return to our normal routines.
-Pray for God to give you an opportunity to minister to the least of these this week.
-Pray for the youth groups that will be beginning to travel to Nashville and continueing the work that has been started.
-Pray that our whole church will want more of what God wants for our church family.

We thank you for your prayers for us this week, their effect has been profound.

Please come hear more about the trip Sunday night.

A Note from the YM

I have been very busy this week and have found little time to write a message, but I have a few minutes right now to make an entry. This week is going very well and I am very pleased with the excitment and the energy of our group. The youth are very energetic and excited about what is going on here.

There has been so many things to do this week. We have had great fellowship times, great worship, and great mission work all of this week and I have been blessed with the testimonies of our kids as God has worked and continues to work in their life.

It has been very busy and I am working on not much sleep. I have to get up in the morning and pick up food for our Ministry group before we go out to our ministry sites. I get to drive the group to the mission site which is a great opportunity to get to know other kids from other youth groups. I have also been blessed by just being able to see and love on these little kids that come to our ministry site.

The church has much to be proud of when it comes to their youth. They have worked hard this week and they have been very well behaved, I am very proud of them. We have begun this week to know God more, to Love God more, and to serve God more and I hope that this is something that we continue to do as week get back home. Please continue to pray for us for the rest of our trip. We have one more day with our ministry tracks.

A praise report is that we know of 5 kids that were saved today from some of our kids ministry sites.

Days Three Through Five

Sorry! We of course have had a busy week. As you can tell by the time stamps at the bottom of the page, these entries are made late at night, after a very tiresome day of activities, so please excuse any typos. CW

JD Huitt here. Chris has asked me to type a short dealie on the goings on over the past few days although I'm afraid that what I have to say won't do justice to the experiences that we have had.

Over the past three days, the youth and adult leadership (and a few castaway college students) have been serving in one of five mission fields. These include childrens ministry, construction, social, creative, and games and recreation. I can say that this is the most focused, hard working, servant minded group that I have seen in the 7 years that I have been doing missions through Temple Baptist Church. They have worked hard in hottest temperatures on minimal sleep and have done it all without complaint. I hope that you are as proud of this group as I have been to serve with them. God has been working in great ways to both promote the growth of the individuals in our group and to spread the gospel this week. I'm excited to see what God has in store for us as a youth group and as a church in the coming months. I'm also excited to share our experiences with you in a more personal way through our presentation on Sunday night (that was my subtle hint for you to come).

It's getting late and we still have a day of misson work left, so I'm going to cut this short. I apologize for the vagueness of what's been going on here in Nashville, but I'm looking forward to sharing with you in more detail when we come back. Thank you for your support in your prayers and in your financial contributions that have gone to help fulfill the Great Commission. We'll see you in a few days.

Day Two: Training

The day was pretty exhausting, and the real thing hasn't even started yet. We began the day with a hearty breakfast (ten times better than what a poor college student is used to), then we began our training. I was put into the "social track", which means I will have the oppurtunity to share Christ through meeting the physical and emotional needs of people. Among the activities this week is spending time at a nursing home for the mentally diabled, packing boxes at a Feed the Children warehouse, visiting and sharing with abused women, and helping dig a bike trail at a park. It's always amazing to feel he prescence of God, especially when we have a common goal of spreading His word and sharing His love. This week will change many lives, I can't wait.

Day One: Introductions

We have arrived safely at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Today was an introduction the week’s activities. We went to our first celebration, introducing us to the staff that will be leading the camp. After splitting into our mission tracks, we went over the basic rules and regulations and met again in cooperate worship that centered on our theme: More.

Trip Announcment

For those of you planning on attending the mission trip, I have the shirts ready. We are all going to wear these shirts on the way down to Nashville so you need to pick your shirt up this week. I will have them upstairs on Wednesday night so please plan on attending.

Also, during the mission trip there will be a Mega Rally that involves an Army theme so if you have any camoflauge to dress up in for the whole theme be sure to bring it.

There is a very good possibility that we will be going to a waterpark so bring your swimming suites and trunks (Remember girls, one peice only). Most of the time they will not let you on the slides in blue jeans shorts or things of that sort so you should get some real swimming suites if you don't have any.

Thats all for now, see you tonight!
